Description
This acrylic painting depicts an enormous cliff face scoured and etched by time and water and is part of a small series. The waves constantly moving underneath and the sounds echoing in the caves beneath. Just holding on to its place on the thin earth right at the top is a tiny gate at the end of a wall. I loved the composition of this one with the large creamy chalk cliff face coloured by streams and the sense of scale it necessitated. The colours range from deep blues and burnt sienna to the palest creams and blue-greens. There is a looseness to the marks with layers of paint, sanding, texture and glazing to create the surface of the cliff and sea. It is beautifully framed in a deep slate grey frame with a cream coloured mount. Acrylic on hardwood panel, varnished and sealed.
