Description
This acrylic and mixed media canvas inspired by flowers has quiet areas of pale opaque paint and is part of a series of three paintings. Hidden leaf and bud shapes are drawn alongside deep colourful blooms and overlapping leaves. The different colour intensities vary in the loud and the quiet with deep crimson and blue-green and a pale lemon yellow. The painting has been sealed with a matt UV varnish.
This piece was made at the beginning of 2021 when the UK was in its third lockdown due to the pandemic. Although the colours in the piece are spring – like, outside was wintery and grey. The playfulness of the work is achieved in part by painting with the non-dominant left hand creating loose and intuitive brush strokes.
