Description

This acrylic painting depicts a warm summer scene on the Dorset coast path and is part of a small series. The vast expanse of water catches the sunlight, the steep cliffs and quarried rocks and a couple can be seen enjoying the moment. This painting is a scene I return to again and again, mentally if not physically, as this place holds many memories. Lockdown in 2020 and 21 made rare visits to the coast path particularly meaningful. The colours range from deep blue-greens and burnt sienna to the palest creams and cerulean blue. There is a looseness to the marks with layers of paint, sanding, texture and glazing to create the surface of the cliff and sea. It is beautifully framed in a deep slate grey frame with a cream coloured mount. Acrylic on hardwood panel, varnished and sealed.
